150 approved programs in 45 countries. We offer summer, semester, year-long, short-term programs and international seminars. Programs are available in English as well as foreign languages.

Advantages of Choosing an Approved Illinois Program 

  1. Receive help from Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange (IAGE) Staff before you go. 

    IAGE staff can assist you with all stages of the study abroad process from researching and applying to programs to preparing to go abroad. Come see us in our Advising and Resource Center!
  2. Financial aid may be applied to an Illinois-sponsored study abroad program.

    For more information and to see if your aid will apply to study abroad, you can contact the Office of Student Financial Aid for more information.
  3. Apply for the lllinois for Illinois (I4I) and Illinois International Programs (IIP) scholarships.

    Detailed information on these scholarships for undergraduate Illinois students is available in the costs section of our website.
  4. Maintain Illinois student status.

    You will remain registered at Illinois while abroad. Be sure to follow the instructions for course approvals set by your college.
  5. Participate in a required orientation course to prepare you for study abroad and help you process your experience once you’re back.

    IAGE also partners with many offices on campus to provide returnee programming to help you stay connected and involved when you return.
